Frank Joseph Libra, Jr. of Lebanon, OR, at the age of 90 years, passed away on June 06, 2016
Frank was born in Owosso, MI to Frank Joseph and Barbara (Dedic) Libra, Sr. on July 22, 1925. Being the second oldest of eight children, he was active with life on the family farm in Corunna, MI.
During the Korean War, he enlisted in the United States Air Force Air Training Command, being stationed at several advanced training bases. After an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force, he was employed by the General Motors Division in Flint, MI, working with plant electrical maintenance.
Frank attended the University of Southern California, receiving a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Electronic Engineering. After graduation, he worked for Douglas Aircraft Engineering in aircraft flight certification programs. Later, transferred to Lockheed Missile and Space Test facility at Santa Cruz, CA. in research of space vehicle re-entry programs.
In retirement, he enjoyed life on the Libra ranch in Lebanon, OR with his wife Margaret (deceased), and his six surviving children, Marianne (Libra) Shanks, Marysville, WA; Steve Libra, Albany, OR; Susan (Libra) Doehne, Lake Stevens, WA; Jim Libra, Enumclaw, WA; Randy Libra, Lebanon, OR; and Tom Libra, Lebanon, OR. Survivors also include 23 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Frank enjoyed being an active member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, serving on the Parish Council, St. Vincent de Paul, and various committees for many years. He was also an active life member of Knights of Columbus 3rd and 4th Degree.
Rosary will be held at Huston-Jost funeral home, Lebanon, OR at 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 16, 2016.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Lebanon, OR at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 17, 2016 preceded by a rosary. Private burial will be in Powell Cemetery at a later date.
