James Edward Iwaniec Sr, 72, died Wednesday June 8, 2011, at home in Corvallis, with family by his side.
He was born Aoril 8, 1939 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Jean Iwaniec. He served his country in the US Army from 1956 to 1963. In 1994 James retired from Boeing of Portland after 20 years of service. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Golf, traveling, RVing, and being with family and friends were activities that were cherished by James.All who knew him adored his quick wit and humor.
Survivors include the love of his life, Mary Iwaniec; his children Kimber Santorella and husband, Frank, of Oak Ridge, NJ, Donnita Chisholm and husband, John, of Boring, James Iwaniec Jr and wife, Dera, of Portland, and Mark Wright of Corvallis; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will take place at 7 pm Wednesday, June 15, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, 501 NW 25th St. A funeral Mass is set for 11 am Thursday June 16 at St Mary’s, with reception following. Relatives, friends, and anyone who knew Jim are welcome.
Service and inurnment with military honors is planned for 11 am Friday, June 24, at Willamette National Cemetery.
