John and Malia Anderson

John Anderson and his family exemplify the best virtues of our order.
John and his eldest son, Jason (a special needs brother Knight)
represent our council every year in the Virginia Special Olympics acting
as both coaches and participants. The Andersons are regular attendees
at mass. John and Jason have volunteered their time at many council
events ranging from clothing drives to pancake breakfasts.

Paul and Joan Wise

Paul and Joan Wise have been with St Veronica parish since the beginning in 1999. A Knight for 22 years, Paul is an original member of our council. Additionally, Paul serves on the parish finance council and has volunteered in a number of ministries over the years. Joan and Paul both have served as Extraordinary Ministers at St Veronica. Joan currently works for Cornerstones, a local non-profit that promotes self-sufficiency by providing support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare, and other human services.

Darby and Jim Fitzpatrick

Darby and Jim Fitzpatrick are selected as the St Veronica Council Family of the Month for September 2020 for their continuing support to St Veronica Parish. Darby has been a lector for many years. Jim, a brother knight in our council, is a regular Usher and has been one of a small handful of volunteer ushers to support masses during the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Wes and Madeleine Marchesseault

The Marcesseault family has been a steadfast example of faithful and dedicated servants to the St Veronica parish for nearly two decades. Wes, a brother knight since 2015, has been an active supporter of the parish and the council since the beginning. Madeleine is a regular volunteer with a number of ministries in the parish. Their faith and devotion when confronted with the challenges of this world is a shining example of a true Catholic family.

The Dealey Family

The July 2020 Family of the month is the Family of Bill and Anne Dealey. The Dealey's remain stalwart supporters of St Veronica Parish. Bill and two of his sons, Patrick and Ben, are Knights and members of our council. Both Patrick and Ben have been Altar Servers at St Veronica Parish. Anne regularly volunteers for a number of St Veronica ministries. Congratulations to the Dealey's, our July Family of the Month.

Randy and Ana Riddell

Randy's service as the Deputy Grand Knight for Fraternal Year 2019-2020 was exemplary, helping the council achieve Star Council status for the first time in several years. Beyond that Randy is a regular usher at masses and can be found volunteering everywhere the parish needs help. Ana not only works in the parish office as the volunteer ministry coordinator but was very active his supporting Randy as DGK - most noteworthy was the annual council Christmas party that Ana and Randy planned, coordinated and executed to everyone's delight!

The June 2019 Family of the month goes to the 2018/2019 Officers of Council 12579. Thank you for treating me and each other like a family. Throughout this year you all stepped up to make my work with the council and that of all our brothers easier. Working as a family you accomplished great things and made our fraternal year very impactful by your continuous acts of charity to our church and community. Your incredible efforts improved persons lives from the unborn to the most aged, and up a down all social and economic boundaries. You were Christ’s witness to our faith not just by your words but by your deeds. You all have my admiration, respect and appreciation.

Bartnick Family

Congratulations to Mike and Patty Bartnick who are our April 2019 family of the month. Mike has served in the past as our Grand Knight, and a Trustee. He has remained a very active supporter of both the council and our church. Patty provides our church with beautiful music through her volunteering as a cantor. She also runs the parish LINK program which provides food to the needy. Mike has served as an usher, lector, and is our parking coordinator for high volume masses here at St. Veronica. Both Patty and Mike have helped with numerous events throughout the years including our pancake breakfasts, casino nights, Galas, and most notably they are responsible for the wonderful St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s party the church has each year. We are appreciative for the wonderful example they set for our church and the community.

Robinson Family

Pat and Amy Robinson are our March 2019 Knights of Columbus Family of the Month. Pat has been an active member of our council for a number of years, and recently helped with Oktoberfest, Casino Knight, and our diocesan sponsored healing mass. Pat also provides the parish with logistical support during Easter and Christmas by assisting with parishioner parking during heavily attended masses. Both Pat and Amy have assisted with our St. Pat’s event for a number of years. Amy is the apostolate lead for our St. Veronica parish Spirituality Book Club and lends a hand with many of our Knight’s activities and fundraisers. Both Pat and Amy are very active parishioners of St. Veronica’s. We are honored to name them our March 2019 family of the month.


February 2019

Bradford Family

Scott and Melissa Bradford are our February 2019 Knights of Columbus Family of the Month. Both Scott and Melissa are very active parishioners of St. Veronica’s. Scott is the Director of our parish RCIA program. Both he and his wife volunteer to prepare those interested in exploring our Catholic faith either by enriching an RCIA candidate’s already chosen catholic faith and getting them ready to receive more Sacramental gifts, or in some cases converting to our Catholic faith as a result of the knowledge and wisdom provided through the RCIA program. Scott also serves very efficiently and effectively as an officer of our Knights council, our worthy Recorder, and is currently working on an ongoing project of redesigning our council website. Melissa is a successful jewelry artist, photographer, graphic designer and a chef of late, who has volunteered her time and talents for many of our parish’s events over the years. Both have positively changed many men’s and women’s lives through sharing their gifts of faith and talents with others. We are honored to name them our February family of the month.


January 2019

Howland Family

The Howlands are our January 2019 Family of the Month. Both have devoted a significant amount of their time to both our Church and Council’s success. Creg most recently ran our council/parish St. Lucy food drive gathering nearly 5 tons (9800 lbs) of food to feed families in need. Both Creg and Margaret assist with many Church and council activities to include our casino night and Oktoberfest events. Margaret volunteers as a church money counter, and Creg has spent a considerable amount of time and talent working on making our adoration chapel a true sanctuary of prayer and devotion. The Howlands also recently supported our ongoing Christ House mission by volunteering and serving one of our quarterly provided meals. Creg further has been upholding the core mission of our Knight’s by providing support for our Knight’s widows and their children. We congratulate the Howlands and thank them for their numerous contributions.


December 2018

Thompson Family

David and Catherine Thompson are our December Family of the month. David and Catherine did a superb job of planning and executing our recent Christmas card sales program for 2018. Their outstanding work resulted in the council selling our cards completely out in record time, and providing the council ministries with nearly $400.00 dollars to support our ongoing missions. David was also a great help during a recent parishioner move which the council supported. Catherine also serves as a Eucharistic minister with the church’s hospital ministry. David attends and participates in many of our council’s monthly meeting showing his devotion to our council and support to enable its success. We thank David and Catherine for supporting our council and the Church, and name them our December 2018 Knights of Columbus Family of the month.


November 2018

Riddell Family

The Riddell’s are our November 2018 Family of the Month. While Randy has only been a Knight for about a year, and most recently successfully completed his 4th degree, he has consistently stepped up in a number of ways including currently serving as our council’s outside guard. He is always willing to help. He has been a great help at pancake breakfasts, and has participated in many of the council’s charitable events, such as the Knights moving crew team and the diocesan healing mass. Both Randy and his wife Ana proudly represented the Knights while serving us at the parish’s Oktoberfest. Randy recently joined our council’s first degree ceremonial team and functions as our inside guard. Ana also has been very busy helping with casino night, and has donated 3 handmade baskets to be used for the casino night auction. Both Randy and Ana are also helping the Knights by working with a vendor to get custom Knight’s centric apparel to market our council. The council and the parish are very thankful for the Riddell’s passion and energy to both our council and our Church, and are pleased to name them November’s family of the month


October 2018

Simard Family

The Simards are being awarded Family of the Month for October 2018. Rick continues to do an admirable job while serving as our council financial secretary for the past year and a half. He donates his time and energy at nearly every council project, and most recently both he and his wife were a great help during the parish’s Oktoberfest and MESA personal items drive. Rick has successfully created a very useful website that will support the council’s online sales and tracking for our new Wreath’s for Life project. Rick’s diligent work on the website template will allow our council with minimal work to use it for other future projects. Additionally, Rick serves as a member of our council’s first degree team. Both Rick and his wife graciously donate their time while serving as parish money counters. In addition, Phyllis is the parish apostolate lead for the very successful Over 50 Women’s Bible Study. The council is very thankful for all the Simard’s contributions to both our Knight’s success and that of St. Veronica’s church.

Rainey Family

The Rainey’s are being awarded FOM for the month of September. Weekly, Spencer and Chriss support our church by volunteering their time and talents. Spencer has served as our Knight of Columbus council treasurer for the past 2 years, and serves as an Extraordinary Minister for Mass, as well as a money counter for the church. Spencer contributes many hours to the monthly projects that our Knights council completes, and is a regular at the council’s pancake breakfast. His wife Chriss also serves as a money counter, and often assists the Knights with many of our projects, including cooking delicious items. The Rainey family is another great example of what Christ envisioned a holy family should be. We congratulate them for their benevolent support of St. Veronica church and our Knight’s council.


August 2018

Chadowski Family

The Chadowski family is awarded FOM for August. Their family has a profound impact through their active support for both the St. Veronica’s Parish Church as well as for our local community and the world abroad. Paul serves as an extraordinary minister for Mass and those who are Homebound, along with being the Master of Ceremonies coordinator for the Parish’s That Man is You program. He leads the MESA Personal Items drive that runs twice a year. Additionally, he serves as a lector, and currently is extremely active as our council’s Deputy Grand Knight. Julie currently is involved with supporting the business operations of the parish, and has served as one of the organizers/coordinators for the parish’s highly successful religious education program. Their son Andrew is overseas working in Christ’s image volunteering with the Peace Corps serving in Kosovo. Their other son Joseph recently got married. He and Melissa are also active St Veronica’s parishioners. The Chadowski family devotes many hours each week to the St. Veronica parish and the world abroad and is a wonderful example of a holy family.

McCue Family

The McCue family is awarded FOM for July. Their family continues to be one of the great contributors to our Church. Gina functions as our parish sacristan, putting in many hours ensuring all of our liturgical services provide us with meaningful and delightful opportunities to know and worship our Lord better. Her husband Don is both an extraordinary minister and a lector, serving our church weekly. Their daughter also serves our church by providing us with beautiful music as a volunteer cantor for our masses. Together, this dynamic family continues to make St. Veronica’s Church a thriving parish filled with faith and a real sense of community.

The Greiner Family

The St Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month for March is the Greiner family. Sir Knight Mike Greiner was called home by Our Lord on Holy Saturday, March 26 after spending Holy Week in a coma. On March 19 he collapsed and went into cardiac arrest while helping deliver mulch with his son and the St Veronica Rangers. Mike is survived by his wife Khristie and four children. This family’s support to others and their impact on the Parish and Community was obvious from Mike’s funeral Mass, as the Church was packed to overflowing by those who were touched by this family. Our hearts go out to the Greiner family, who continue to bring others together in Christ even in their time of sorrow.

The Thompson Family

Congratulations to the family of Sir Knight David and Catherine Thompson, our family of the month for December! We recognize and thank them for their tremendous support to our Parish, particularly for organizing and running the Keep Christ in Christmas campaign this year. Catherine is also an Extraordinary Minister at Mass, takes Communion to Fair Oaks hospital, and serves with the Parish Finance Council and ushers, along with participating in the Luminaries of Holy Mary and Parish Community Circles. The Kearns Family

Congratulations to the family of Chris and Lisa Kearns, our family of the month for November! We recognize and thank them for their tremendous support to our Parish, particularly for organizing the John Paul Kearns blood drive. Brother Chris is also an usher and on the core team for TMIY. Lisa is a teacher at St Veronica and helps out with middle school youth group. Their children assist as Altar Server and with music at Mass, and helped at Vacation Bible School and with Cooking With the Saints. The Van Daele Family

St Veronica Knights of Columbus Council 12579 has selected the family of John and Jennifer Van Daele as our family of the month for August 2015. The Van Daele family is very active with the Parish youth group. Jennifer is the Religious Education director assistant for our Parish Deacon. John cooks breakfast for the Parish's weekly meeting of That Man Is You (TMIY). Their son is a well seasoned altar server, and the girls assist wherever they can, especially in the Religious Education program. The family is also active with St Veronica Rangers (an alternative Scouting program) and other support to the Parish in general. On behalf of the Officers and all of the members of St. Veronica Knights of Columbus, thank you for all you do!

The Gustin Family

Congratulations to the family of Russ and Peggy Gustin, our family of the month for April! We recognize and thank them for their tremendous support to our Parish – Russ is involved in almost every single activity that the Council supports, and his wife Peggy is active in a variety of Parish ministries. However, in particular, we recognize the tremendous amount of work that both Russ and Peggy did to organize another incredibly fun and successful Casino Knight - which raised over $5,600 for the Kathy Hannan St. Veronica Scholarship. Russ is also organizing a Royal Caribbean charity cruise for next February to raise money for KOVAR. We recognize and thank them for their tremendous support to our Parish – Brother Greiner is a lector, usher and EMHC, and his wife Khristie is an EMHC. His son Gregory is a Chief Ranger and an usher. His family is also active in the Catholic Student Association at UVA and numerous other service projects. The St. Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month is Scott & Melissa Lew Bradford. Scott is the Director of the Parish RCIA program, as well as being an usher and active member of our Council. Melissa is a successful artist who is active in the Parish and designed the 15th Anniversary logo. They are both indispensable members of our parish family and their efforts are greatly appreciated.

The Cain Family

The St. Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month is Sean and Nan Cain. Congratulations on behalf of the Officers and all of the members of St. Veronica Knights of Columbus for being selected as our December 2014 Family of the Month. Both Sean and Nan are ushers for the Parish. In addition, Nan is the leader for the ’50 and over Women’s Bible Study,’ a leader for the Parish money counters as well as Adoration and provides critical spiritual assistance to those at Sunrise assisted living (leading the Rosary and providing the Eucharist). They are both indispensable members of our parish family and their efforts are greatly appreciated.

The St. Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month is the family of Clark and Tanya Bartholomew. Congratulations on behalf of the Officers and all of the members of St. Veronica Knights of Columbus for being selected as our November 2014 Family of the Month. This family immediately became an integral part of the St. Veronica community. Clark jumped into supporting our Council from the very beginning and has always been there to help when needed. He also serves as an Usher at Mass. Tanya is a first year teacher at our school and their son is an Alter Server. The Bartholomew's epitomize an energetic and engaged Catholic family.

The Leddy Family

The St. Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month is Mike and Cindy Leddy. Congratulations on behalf of the Officers and all of the members of St. Veronica Knights of Columbus for being selected as our October 2014 Family of the Month. Cindy has been involved for years in the parish money counting efforts and is a critical part of this important team. Immediately after transferring into our Council, Mike assumed an active leadership role. He agreed to leverage his experience as a PGK to serve as a Trustee when we really needed one and his years of leading a First Degree Team was instrumental in helping our Council’s team receive their certification last week. They are both indispensable members of our parish/Council family.

Frank and Patricia Bolles

The St. Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month is Frank and Patricia Bolles. Congratulations on behalf of the Officers and all of the members of St. Veronica Knights of Columbus for being selected as our July 2014 Family of the Month. Frank served as the inaugural Grand Knights of our Council and he and Patricia have remained very active and dedicated members of the parish and Knight families ever since. Frank just completed serving as our District Deputy for three years and it is only fitting that as the Council prepares to celebrate our 15th Anniversary along with the Parish, that we recognize the family who served as the foundation of our St. Veronica Knights.

Nyce Family

The St. Veronica Knights of Columbus Family of the Month is Carol and Chris Nyce. Congratulations on behalf of the Officers and all of the members of St. Veronica Knights of Columbus for being selected as our June 2014 Family of the Month. Both are so active in the Parish and contribute much to help our Parish community. However, we wanted to thank Carol and Chris in particular for organizing the two wonderful recognition gatherings for our recent Deacons. These were very nice ways for the Parish to celebrate this important step in the formal religious formation of these two young men. The Nyce's time and dedication to our Parish and the community do not go unnoticed and are greatly appreciated.

The Machida Family

The Machida family is being recognized as our Family of the Month for April 2014. In recognition of the support that they give to our Parish, but in particular the support that Ado, Marieanne and all the family gave in helping the Council/Parish get ready for our recent [and very successful] St. Patrick/St. Joseph's Day party. This family's efforts were very much appreciated and was an excellent example of the type of family dedication that help make St. Veronica a special place.

Megan and Scott Hamberger Family

The Family of the Month for March 2014 is the Megan and Scott Hamberger Family in recognition of all that they both do for our Parish. Megan headed up the recent, and incredibly successful, Parish Gala for the second year and is also supporting all of the parish's anniversary activities. Scott's involvement with the Rangers, Lectors and Parish Finance Council are all incredible gifts to the entire community. Their family's support to St. Veronica is very much appreciated and we wanted to extend this small token of our appreciation

Spencer and Chris Rainey

Since transferring to our Parish, the Raineys have assumed active roles in a variety of ministries. Spencer filled the Council's role as Advocate right at the time of need, as well as helping with sale of cards, decorations for Christmas, both count collection money, he helped to construct the new manger for the church, etc. We are lucky to have them both at St. Veronica.

The Council wanted to recognize all that this family gives back to our Parish, in particular via their efforts with the Usher Ministry. The Parish and the Council are grateful to all of the Pacia family for the contributions to this important Parish ministry.
