Charter Grand Knight: 1978 - 1979
Robert Charles Viergutz, 71, died Feb. 12 at his home in Marshall. Mr. Viergutz was a charter Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus, John Paul I Council 7165, Dale City. He was a retired U. S. Army Vietnam war veteran who received the Bronze Star. He later worked for and retired from U.S. Airways. He is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years, Caroline Finnegan Viergutz, and his son, Robert C. Viergutz Jr. of Scottsdale, Ariz. Also surviving are seven sisters, Marianne Zarling of Omro, Wis., Gloria Knippel of Schofield, Wis., Judith Gustin of New London, Wis., Florine Goulet of Colfax, Wis., Janet Bergman of Marathon City, Wis., Janice Krueger of Schofield, Wis., and Julie Bircholz of Medford, Wis.; and four brothers, Gerald Viergutz of Bartow, Fla., Ralph Viergutz of Chula Vista, Calif., Milton Viergutz of Colby, Wis., and Donald Viergutz of Belleville, Mich. A funeral mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 14160 Ferndale Road, Dale City. Interment with honors will follow at Arlington National Cemetery.
