Richard James McCoy, 92, Command SGT Major, US ARMY RET.
Of Dale City, Va. died on Sunday February 8, 2015 at Sentara Potomac Hospital. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen McCoy. He is preceded in death by his sister Eileen T. Weis. He is loved and treasured by his nieces and nephews and their extended families, as well as many others who knew Richard, who was also known as Dick.
Dick retired after 32 years of service with the US Army and the White House Comm Staff (under Presidents Johnson, Nixon, and Ford). He was a veteran of WWII and Korea. He accompanied Nixon on his historic trip to China in 1972.
Visitation will be held on Monday February 16, 2015 from 2-4 & 7-9 at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home and Crematory, 4143 Dale Blvd, Dale City, VA 22193. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday 10am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 14160 Ferndale Rd. Dale City, VA 22193 with interment to follow with military honors at Quantico National Cemetery at noon.
