TYSON L. JOHNSON, SR.

October 24, 1935 - October 7, 2018

TYSON L. JOHNSON SR. October 24, 1935 - October 7, 2018 Tyson was a strong and determined person who treated life as an opportunity to try a great variety of things. This is certainly attributed to his parents Tyson E. Johnson and Pearl Johnson who grew up on the hard side of the Depression. He often spoke of the influence of his parents as he celebrated that all his brothers had received advanced degrees in their professional fields. He loved his daughters more than he appeared to and always wanted the best in life for them. He often spoke of how he wanted to bless their lives and see them each prosper. In looking at his employment history he was a government man most of his entire life. However, within the government he moved around frequently always exploring new and better opportunities. US Marine Corps Reserve 1953 - 1955, US Air Force 1955-1963 US Post Office Department 1964-1966 Executive Director Neighborhood Council (Anti Poverty Program) 1966- 1969 Federal Code Enforcement, 1969-1971 Equal Opportunity Specialist 1971-1973 Private Security Supervisor (New Orleans) 1973-1975 [Banks & Fortune 400 Companies] US Capitol Police (1975- ?) *Retired as a Federal Employee working in office situations. He is survived by his daughters Sharon Simon, Valtina Coleman, Roslyn Johnson and Michelle Yard. Siblings Gloria, Clifford, Leroy (Nora), Patricia Hall (Wilbur) and John (Christine) as well as many grand children and great grand children, neices, nephews and one cousin David Brown.

The entire Johnson family would like to especially praise God for the love and service provided to Tyson by his Christian brothers of the Knights of Columbus. These men were often present and available to him when family members were unable to attend to his needs. Our family owes these men a debt of gratitude that we can never repay. We also wish to thank the members of Holy Family Catholic Church for the visits, meals, encouragement and love they showed Tyson in his time of need.
