Brother Hans J. Zottmann

Hans J. Zottmann died on October 12, 2023, in Barrington, Illinois. He was born on July 9, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Paula Zottmann.

Hans is survived by his children Lisa (Thomas) Smyth, Carol (David) Shirley, and Mark Zottmann; his grandchildren Michael, Brittany (Robert), Mathew (Alexis), Heather, Eric (Kristina), Alex, Jessica (Luke) and Sarah; his great-grandchildren Quinn, Livi, Kai and Olivia; and his sister Rita Kneisel.

He is preceded in death by his spouse Marilyn Zottmann, his sons, Steven and David Zottmann, his daughter-in-law Nicole Zottmann and his parents.

Hans' parents immigrated from Germany to Chicago where he was born July 9, 1932. His father was a Baker and then a Tool & Die Maker and his mother was a homemaker. He attended Catholic Academy in high school and then Mundelein Seminary for 2 years. He enlisted in the Armed Services in 1955, serving in the Army for 2 years. He met his wife, Marilyn, in Lexington, Ky, married and had 5 children. He resided in Carpentersville, IL for 18 years. He worked for Combined Insurance Company of America for over 40 years where he retired. Being a man of faith, he and his family were parishioners of St. Monica's Parish where he was a Lector, Eucharistic Minister and active in the Holy Name society, being named 'The Man of the Year'. His desire to move closer to work led to moving the family to Buffalo Grove in 1978. He was a member of St. Mary Parish serving as a member of the choir, a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister and a Sacristan. He enjoyed Golfing, Bocci, and was a die hard fan on the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs. He was a prayer warrior for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was loved and will be missed by many.

A visitation will take place from 3:00pm til 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd. Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Prayers will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 9:00am proceeding to St. Mary Parish, 10 N. Buffalo Grove Rd. Buffalo Grove, IL 60089 for a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Interment St. Mary Parish Cemetery, Buffalo Grove, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society in c/o St. Mary Parish. 10 N. Buffalo Grove Rd. Buffalo Grove, IL 60089.
