He married his high school sweetheart, Jackie Guillou on September 23, 1967, and moved to Illinois in 1972 where they raised their family in Buffalo Grove. They were married for 56 years. Lou graduated from Bryant High School in 1962 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Pace University, a Master's Degree from The Baruch School of City University of New York, and a CPA certification.
Lou worked at CBS and Kraft while in New York. In 1978, he joined Motorola in Schaumburg, IL. Over his 28 years at Motorola, he held various positions in Accounting and Finance. His time at Motorola involved traveling all over the world. He retired from Motorola in 2006 as a Senior Vice President of Finance.
His family was his pride and joy. Growing up, he loved spending time with his family and cousins at Rocky Point, Long Island. His love for the water continued throughout his life, including fishing and boating on Lake Michigan, yearly family vacations to Lake of the Ozarks, and finally retiring at Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda, Florida. He loved being with his grandkids and spent countless hours at school events, football, soccer, basketball, and Special Olympic games. He enjoyed family dinners and playing games with his family, especially Hearts. In retirement, he was fortunate to meet a great group of new friends and enjoyed golfing, playing bocce, traveling and many social events with them. He brought joy and laughter to those lucky enough to meet him, and boy, could he tell a story.
