Born on October 27th, 1936 in Chicago, IL to Leonard and Estelle Schiller, "Len" was the first and oldest of four Schiller sons, preceding brothers Mike (Charlotte), Jerry and Marty (Karen) in birth. He graduated from Ela Vernon High School in Lake Zurich, IL in 1955 and shortly after, enlisted in the United States Naval service. During his time in the Navy, he was stationed for a period in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, was an all-star member of the baseball team, and ultimately concluded his service in 1962.
Upon returning to the United States, Len settled into a new home in Buffalo Grove, IL with his beloved bride and wife of 62 years, Dorothy Schiller (Raupp), whom he is survived by. Together they raised four children: Steven (Sandra), Sherri Vinci (Steven), Kristin Schneider (Kevin), and Karyn Dadian (Stacey). He was a dedicated employee of the Allstate Insurance Company, initially beginning his career in the mailroom and proudly working his way to agent status. He forged many lifelong friendships and connections over his 38 years with the company and was a part-time consultant for an additional 20 years following his retirement. In recent years he took pride in his work with RainSoft which allowed him to bring his passionate and charismatic personality to various Home Depot locations across the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Len was an avid sports fan, and die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs. One of the greatest moments of his life was being able to see his favorite team capture their first World Series title since 1908 during the 2016 season, alongside his closest family members and friends. Despite his love of professional sports, nothing brought him more joy than attending the various sporting events of his 11 grandchildren: Brad (Ryan), Sarah, Eric (Stephanie), Amy, Juliana, Katlyn, Olivia, Kelli, Noelle, Kari, and Max. In 2022, he also had the honor of becoming a great-grandfather (G-Pop) to Lyla. His devotion and service to the Catholic church, his love of golf, and his infectious laughter are amongst the long list of the things that the people closest to him will miss the most. Len is survived by his loving family, brothers, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and a legion of friends.
