COUNCIL INFORMATION
HISTORY OF COUNCIL 5392
The history of the Knights of Columbus begins with its founding in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney at St. Mary New Haven, Connecticut, United States. Recognizing the need in the community, he gathered men at St. Mary's Church in New Haven, CT on October 2nd, 1881. It expanded beyond Connecticut and the United States to establish its first international councils by 1905.
The Knights of Columbus is the largest fraternity whose purpose is to:
- Engage in charitable works
- Serve the Church
- Support brother Knights
- Act for the good of our country and,
- Give aid to those in need
Our MOTTO: In Service to One. In Service to All.
Our Council's First Year SAN GORGONIO COUNCIL 5392 was chartered March 3, 1963, signed by Joseph Lamb, Supreme Secretary. Our members are shown in the attached Charter and Picture.
